Tree stumps are more than just an eyesore — they attract termites, create tripping hazards, and make mowing a nightmare. Tropical Maintenance provides stump grinding services across Southwest Florida, turning unsightly stumps into level ground ready for sod, landscaping, or construction. With industrial stump grinders that handle any size stump, we get the job done quickly and cleanly.
Our stump grinding services include single stump grinding for residential properties, multi-stump grinding for land clearing projects, deep grinding (up to 12 inches below grade), surface root grinding, grinding chip removal and backfill, and site grading after grinding. Our industrial stump grinders handle stumps from 6 inches to over 48 inches in diameter. For large-scale land clearing projects, we grind stumps as part of the overall clearing scope.
**Residential:** Individual stump removal, yard renovation, construction preparation, landscape improvement, pest prevention.

Stump grinding costs in Southwest Florida typically range from $100-$400 per stump for residential properties, depending on stump diameter and root spread. Multiple stumps on the same property get volume discounts. We provide per-stump pricing after seeing the site.
Standard grinding goes 6-8 inches below grade — enough to cover with soil and grow grass over. For construction sites, we can grind 12+ inches below grade. We’ll recommend the appropriate depth based on your plans for the area.
Stump grinding produces a pile of wood chips mixed with soil. We can spread the chips back into the hole (they decompose over time), haul them away, or leave them for your use as mulch. Most residential customers prefer we backfill and level the area.
In most cases, yes. Our operators carefully control the grinder to avoid damage to adjacent structures. For stumps very close to foundations, we may need to adjust the grinding depth or use a smaller machine. We assess each situation on-site.
